Although this website was designed with many browser types
in mind, it is possible that some users may encounter difficulties.
These web pages are ideally suited for viewing with Microsoft's
Internet Explorer Version 5.XX or newer. There should also be
few problems encountered if browsing with newer versions of
Netscape, although with Netscape V4.72 or older there may be
some background repetition on extremely long pages. For the most
part even though many newer html features have been included, care
has been taken to ensure that the html code used is compatible with
older browsers.
Common Look and Feel
The Government of Canada has implemented a comprehensive Common look
and feel initiative to allow all Canadians the ability to view
information on the web, and this site has attempted to meet these
guidelines. Features such as command keys and many other behind-the-scenes
implementations should allow for trouble free browsing and easy retrieval
of information. If you should encounter any trouble or have any
comments or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us by e-mail at
postmaster@etc.ec.gc.ca
or by any of the other methods shown on the
Contact Us page.

Browser Window Size
These pages were designed to have all pertinent information visible
when viewed at a width of 640 pixels (browser maximized with Windows'
viewscreen set to 640 X 480 pixel resolution) without the need to scroll
horizontally. Ideally the pages will be viewed at a width of 800
pixels, or with the browser maximized with a monitor setting of 800 X 600
pixels. Viewing the pages at higher resolutions will yield no advantages.
The pages have not been tested with browsers such as WebTV, personal digital
assistants, or other similar media and may not be supported at this time.

Browser Plug-Ins
Work is in progress to ensure that no special browser plug-ins will
be neccessary to view any of the information available on the ETC web.
Currently there are still many documents that were originally designed
for print publishing and are therefore only available in this format.

Help on the Adobe Acrobat (PDF) Format
Some of the pages available on the ETC's website are electronic versions
of documents that were originally designed for printing. These documents
can now be downloaded in Adobe Acrobat format, so that you may view and
print them with virtually the same graphics, typography, and layout as
the original printed version.
The Adobe Acrobat files available on ETC's web can be viewed or
printed offline using the Acrobat reader. To receive the latest version
for Windows, Macintosh, Unix, and DOS versions, visit the Adobe Acrobat
distribution page.
Visit the Adobe Acrobat web site at
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html for instructions on
configuring your browser to work with the Acrobat reader, and for support
and update information.
Many of the documents are only available in Adobe Acrobat format at this
time, therefore it is recommended that your browser have the Acrobat
reader installed.

Converting PDF to HTML or ASCII Formats
The Adobe corporation has developed tools to help make PDF files accessible
to the visually disabled. The tools convert Adobe PDF documents into HTML
or ASCII text which can then be read by a number of common screen reading
programs that synthesize text as audible speech. To convert PDF files,
visit http://access.adobe.com/simple_form.html.
